Hand space dyed table placemats, ethically dyed by artisans in Antigua, Guatemala on using natural plant dyes (indigo). 

This textile was woven by an artisan from the village of Totonicapan, Guatemala. The pattern represents one of dyed to resemble an old weaving style that involved using scrap threads from the floor of the weaving room, spinning them together into new thread and weaving them back together to create a new textile. The technique in no longer in practice, but we have come as close as possible to achieving the same look using hand dyed cotton threads.
